What are easements?

For example, a right of way can be arranged as an easement. Here someone has the right (dominant property) to drive over another person's property. This other person has the duty (servient land) to grant the other person passage. This is just one example of one of many possible easements. Typically, an easement does not expire if it is not mentioned in a deed of sale.
